WTB: Suzuki Bandit 400 or 600 in good condition

Discussion in 'Bay Area Bikers' started by Michael Sierchio, Mar 3, 2004.

  1. Subject line sez it all. Can't ride the Ducati all the time ;-)

I'm interested in a standard bike that's smaller and lighter
than average for anxiety-free parking on city streets.

  2. As an ex-Bandit 600 owner, I wouldn't call it lighter than average. What
about a dual-sport bike, like a DRZ 400 or XR650L? Much lighter, quick to
manuever, better able to withstand falls and scrapes.

  3. Just to back up Charles' reply, the Bandit 600 is frickin' porky, speaking
as a former owner--without taking up the time to look up specs, I think
it's around 450lbs or so dry weight. Nearly any modern sportbike is
lighter than a B6. Bandit 400 is slightly lighter, but still not svelte.

I'd look for a used SV650 (nearly 100lbs lighter than a Bandit), or go with
a dual-sport as Charles says. Alternately, if you're looking for a
disposable city bike and don't care about power, consider a GS500. They're
dirt-cheap and about as light as the SV650. You could also pick up an
EX250/Ninja 250. They actually ride like standards, for the most part, and
    they're super-light and maneuverable.
