    Hi,
I have a 600 Divvy, works OK most of the time although recently it has been
playing up. when starting from cold in the mornings it has been firing on 2
cylinders, this lasts about 10 mins when I get the feeling that a third
comes in. At this point the bike is just about rideable and a few mins later
( about 4 miles worth ) the 4th cylinder finally wakes up and all is well.
The bike is garaged overnight and outside all day and I will not have this
    problem until the following day.

Anyone have any ideas - I thought a sticky valve but as it seems to effect
2 cylinders and I don't think its electrical as it only happens first thing
in the morning, but not every day.

    Any help / advice appreciated.

I wouldn't bet on it *not* being electrical, could be condensation forming
as it stands overnight, which the heat from the engine dries out. Spray
everything that could be a possible culprit liberally with WD40 or
similar. Then if that doesn't work start investigating further, hand on
the downpipes to ascertain which cylinder(s) aren't firing initially may
give a clue as to the problem.

    Thanks Ian,

I'll try dousing everything under the tank with WD40 when I get home, and
    see what happens.

when you say two cylinders is it like 1 and 4 or 2 and 3 that are
misbehaving, if so then it could well be some issue with the HT
    leads/coil for those cylinders

    <snip on-topic stuff>

Just seen your CV on your site - see you worked at Kawasaki Old Woking,
I used to spend time in there lusting after those bikes 1980/1981. When
    did they shut-up shop?

  7. Sounds like coils breaking up. Could be the low tension connections to
the coils - Divvie 600s are notorious for having electrical systems
    whose connectors corrode like hell.

Spray the coils and HT leads with WD40, disconnect the low-tension
connections to the coils, clean them up, and reconnect.

    Then try it.

If two pots are dropping out it *has* to be ignition related since the 1
    & 4 and 2 & 3 pots fire together. It won't be a sticky valve.
