Yamaha Off Road days

Weather permitting, tomorrow I should be doing one of the Yamaha Off-
Road Biking days at Goldings Barn ( http://snipurl.com/fsw2 ). Has
anyone done something like this before, and what can I expect? I've
only been riding for 18 months (on a little XR125) so the prospect of
250 two strokes seems slightly daunting.

I'm riding down there tonight (from Oxford), but given my expected
levels of tiredness after the day itself, Sunday might be a better day
    to ride back, no?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Oh, some pictures are here of some race or another I took a while ago
of the Maxxis championship. I don't know what the track is called,
mind, but it's the one near Abingdon where you can walk up the river
footpath and then hop the non existent barrier:

Given the current weather, you can expect it to be cancelled.
I'd call before leaving to check it's still on if I were you, but yes,
you will be very tired. On the other hand, you'll ache like a git
Sunday & might not be able to move, so riding back Saturday while the
adrenalin's still pumping may be a better plan.

But I'm pretty sure GB is one of the tracks that closes when wet, so
    it's unlikely to happen anyway.

  3. I'm a little nervous, but excited at the same time.
Ah, not having a car is a problem. I'll see if I can sort one out
    then.
    OK.

  4. AA route planner says 75 miles. However, I can't use motorways on the
motorbike. So it'd be a 3 hour ride back, maybe more. Looks like time
    to hire a car, then.

  5. That's what I'm concerned about.

    Ah well.

    Thanks.

  6. That tiring, then? I'll avoid a late night tonight, just in case.
    Noted. Thanks.

If you can, drive. You'll be fucked by the time you've finished, and sore
for several days, even if you don't fall off.

I did a similar thing at Matchams down in Hants, and had to pull into Fleet
Services on the way back for several restorative Red Bulls.

It's great fun though - crashing *rocks*

I loved it so much I:
sold my fireblade, bought a KTM
Lost 5 stone and started racing.

    :)

  11. Bad form etc:

Mini review. Up at 8am for a lift from reigate to Golding Barn Raceway.
it was dry and fairly warm.

    Crashing commenced.

It fucking rocked. I ache like I've never ached before, I just feel so
tired I want to sleep, but can't stop grinning.

Lift back to reigate then Reigate to Abingdon on the XR125. Which
seemed really odd after the other bikes.

    Couldn't recommend the day more.

  13. It was, see some (poor, by standards of this NG) photos here

    The latter.

In short: I did this off road day with my father.

Who was staying in Reigate with my Uncle the evening prior. He was
going to drive up on friday, and stay there, and did.

Friday morning, I left for work on the bike, got soaked through, so
I didn't go to Brighton (where I had accomodation booked) as after
leaving work at 5pm, getting to guilford at about 7ish, and being
soaked again, I wimped out and headed for reigate and food.

Next morning, got a lift to the track with my dad. Played at being
off road riders, then got a lift back, had a cup of tea, and did
Reigate to Abingdon in 2 and half hours which I was pleased with,
especially as I was riding a 125, was kancered and had to stop for
    fuel and a piss.

I'm now aching even more, but it was ace.
