Anybody know how each letter (e.g. M, N, P, R, etc.) relates to a model
year, or can point me at a website that lists them?

    The 2002 is a YZFR1P, 2003 is YZFR1R, according to Yam's website.

2000 to 2003, M to R (omitting O to avoid confusion with 0), seems to
make sense, and that's all I'm bothered about.

So, why do they bother with the M, N, etc.?

Oh, FFS: now I'm as confused as the original seller.

I was *told* that they were for a 2002-2003 (which would mean that the
rack and handle would fit one of our fleet); they appear to be for a
    2000-2001, which means they won't.

    Anybody got a 2000-2001 R1 (YZFR1M or YZFR1N)?

Sorry to get your hopes up: see my other post.

Unless yours is actually what Yamaha and Ventura call a 2001, like the
    original seller's.
