Yamaha rear brake

Any ideas befor I incur garage costs?

I've been getting the bike ready for the MOT and knew the back brake needed
cleaning as it was sticking a little.

I pushed to pots out a bit to clean them, but no way can I get them to go
back in again, not by hand nor by cramp.

I thought I'd go the whole hog and push them right out and put new fluid in,
but by use of the pedal I can't persuade them to come all the way out. Now
I'm stuck in a position where I can't get the pads to go back in.

If the worst come to the worst I'll ride it to the garage without rear
brakes, but would rather sort it myself.

    Ideas?
And before anyone suggests it, I don't own an angle grinder...

The bike is a Yamaha Fazer 03 model

I'm really going off Yamaha brakes. I could do the Suzikis' brakes fine,
but had loads of trouble getting the front brake on this bike bled, now I
can't sort the back ones out. I think I'll have to go back to Suzuki....

    jsp wibbled:
The piston is probably slightly on the piss. If you can't get them back
in I'd suggest whipping the caliper off and talking it to a man with
    suitable air tools.

    Something like
    http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=71972&ts=26493 or
similar is very useful for getting the little buggers back in - there
    are cheaper ones about

Yep, but it was worth asking...

    That did occur to me.
It's off to the garage then. It's only half a mile up the road, so I don't
mind a careful ride with no rear brake.

It always annoys me not to be able to finish a job, though.
