Are you still looking for GT250R bits? I was at my local wreckers
recently and they had one that had suffered a pretty hefty front-end
shunt (front wheel cracked, steering head bent) but even with that the
forks still looked straight. How the hell did you manage to bend
    yours?

I didn't look too hard, but it still had an intact windscreen and the
motor appeared to be undamaged. I got the impression that not many of
them get wrecked, and the parts had been harvested pretty quickly.

Now if you owned a GPX250 on the other hand...

Wow, thanks BTH. I actually have a GT250 (naked).

I'm on the road and all's well. The only bit I *need* would be the
collector box, which (on mine at least) includes a pipe to the front
cylinder, and to the beginning of the muffler. The rear cylinder has a
separate pipe. If it's midnight blue (it'll look black unless in bright
sunlight) I'd be interested to know how the rear panels fared as well.

Which wreckers etc ? I'm definitely interested.

I am not sure how I managed to bend my forks, from memory I was smashing
my visor into the road and noticing the interesting texture. My best
estimation is I locked the rear, slid and lowsided myself. Whenever poor
Fritz hit the ground he did a nice all-eight-corners bounce-and-roll and
wound up looking rather dishevelled at the side of the road. Ah, the
    memories..

    Again, thanks.

    Joe's Motorcycles, Fyshwick ACT.

The front exhaust header at least would have been squashed (it looked
like a hard front-end hit into something, smashed the front wheel,
bent the steering head, disintegrated the fairing, etc.) It was a red
    one.

As I said, I don't know what parts are still available, but it
appeared to be getting stripped much more quickly than the average
    wreck out the back.

  5. They go for crazy money at the auctions. I think parts support must be
so bad people will do anything to get parts for them.

I suppose it's good to know it will hold its value even if you trash
    it......

(but not the way a CX500 does)

Well, I can only say what these parts cost for Minx's GT650RS
    conversion:

Upper triple clamp (used, GT250R): $75
    GT650S windscreen: $145
GT650S handlebar clamps (attach tube-style handlebars to upper triple
    clamp): $75
    GT650S handlebar clamp bolts (4 of): $10

The only other bits I'll need for the conversion will be a set of bent-
tube handlebars, a longer upper brake hose and a pair of handlebar-
mounted mirrors, but I'll get them used. Fortunately the parts
catalogue says that the clutch, throttle and choke cables are the same
on both the R and S models.

The upper triple clamps for all the Hyosung GT models (250/250R/
650/650S/650R) are an identical casting, with 4 bolt holes drilled and
tapped for those models that use non-clipon handlebars. Just for
once, I'm taking the sensible option and keeping the original bits
undamaged so that this surgery is reversible. ;-)

New bars were 117 I think new or something like that. Mirrors were
something pathetic like 18ea I think. That didn't include the bar
brackets - though I presume you already have both of those. I assume
    it's the 650R?

The bars are just a bent bit of pipe, so there's no need to go genuine
when I can get used or aftermarket ones for ~$50. If the visibility
from the fairing-mounted mirrors is adequate I'll stick with them,
otherwise I'll get a pair of aftermarket ones. The brake master
cylinder and clutch lever bracket both have mirror mounting holes in
them (currently with little plastic plugs). It looks like Hyosung
tried hard to make parts common across their range.

Yes, I'm putting riser bars on a GT650R.

My brother-in-law had his vasectomy reversed, but it was only
partially successful. My sister left him.

Some (but no one here, surely) would say it was entirely successful :)

I agree, way too much for a 650. But I reckon they'd do the job on the
    CT90 for sure.
