Those manhole covers should be banned.

I'm really liking the Metzeler Z6s I have on the black SV, and the
Pirelli Diablo Stradas that are on my silver one[1]. Both share the same
compound and carcass design, but have slightly different tread patterns.

Has matey got the original Dunlop D220s? If he has then tell him to get
shot of them asap, they really are about the worst tyre on the market,
even worse than the Dunlop D207s.

[1] Which I sold this morning to a mate of mine.

I can't remember exactly which tyre (I'm sure Beav will), but they were
even worse than the Metzeler MEZ4s that came OEM on my SV.

They were seriously confidence eroding. I got about 150yds from the
chap's house, going round an open sweepy bend[1] and the whole thing
felt like it wanted to run wide. At about 20mph. I ended up doing less
than about 1/2 a mile before handing it back, lest it sully my SV
    memories.

[1] Imagine the usual housing estate bends, only this hadn't been built
up yet, open grass all around.

Ah, the "Bear's Diesel" defence. Nice one.
    Fair dos.
Did I say "clumsy twat" already?

Are you sure you didn't hit your head again ? Just once or twice ?

I'm sure my brothers Suzuki RV125 would suit you better, it's got "wide
all-terrain tyres" which would be perfect for the modern obstacle filled
    road.

Looks like this except it's a bit more rusty and purple coloured.

His first three did that (about 42 quid a pop too), but the last time it
bent the sticky out bit so it now points backwards. A new/improved version
    obviously, made of plasticine.

The foot pedal bit is now a key ring pendant for my car
I just bin his. I've not got that many keys :)
I've done it for him. Frame sliders and spindle bobbins, but oddly enough,
he's never broken anything that caused the bike to need recovering. He's
currently riding without a front mudguard though, coz I've failed him
miserably by not getting it painted. It's now covered in 6 months worth of
    garage dust and shite.

Valiant effort, trying to your use head to absorb impact, thus
    preventing further damage to bike.

I got him a pair of stickies (020's IIRC) and he's not binned it since.

They were the OEM tyres from Dunlop and like Christofire said they were
god-awful abominations. I rode the SV when they were on the bike and as I'd
never ridden an SV before I wondered why ANYONE ever said they were a sweet
handling machine, so I called Chris to have a go. He diagnosed a tyre
problem and I fitted some BT 020's (I think that's what I got him) and it
was as different as night and day after.
With enema's like you, wo needs friends eh? :)

020s aren't sticky! The originals must have been made from bakelite if
    those are deemed sticky.

They are shocking tyres. Tried those on the bindit, and we all know
    what happened to that one.

Curiously, no, but then the Blackbird and 12R never went horizontal
    [1] .. :)

    P.

[1] Well, strictly speaking the Blackbird did, but I was nowhere near
    it at the time.
