I've heard that sense of humour is one of the first things to go in Oz.
Porl hasn't reached that stage yet.

It'll show, when he starts having weekend barbies, wearing corks on 'is
hat and starts talking like Crocodile Dundee.

    Then he's doomed.

I can't understand why you've gone to Australia. I've always regarded it
as a place that people end up in when no-one else wants them i.e.
    criminals, my ex-wife etc.

  12. <boggle> Your powers are greater than I ever imagined oh Lord
    Champion. Did she wonder back?

Yeah, it's pretty hellish here. Stay over there. And make everyone stay
    there too.

There are downsides, mind you. The Police are fucking nazis in the traffic
dept. They have an amusing system here on bank holidays and such when they
instigate the Double Demerit Day device. If they clock you doing a few kph
over the limit that's double the fine and double the points. Mate Steve got
done twice in one day on the way to the track. That's 12 points and a large
fine in under an hour. For doing 7kph over the limit for one and for
slightly exceeding the limit upon pulling out of a petrol station.

Last weekend they were out in force (a biker had died the previous weekend)
and a colleague was done for doing a U turn. I'll be keeping my English
    license as long as possible.

The other downside is that, without doubt, drivers in Sydney are the worst
    I've encountered.

I hear they have weird traffic rules, like when turning right you're
meant to pull in to the left and wait for following traffic to overtake
before turning when it's clear. Is that correct?

No idea, but I've not seen anyone perform that manoeuvre.. As far as I'm
concerned, we are apparently invisible to drivers so I ride as if I'm
invisible. Highly defensive and doing whatever I have to do to get where I'm
going. Of course, with my sense of direction, that could be anywhere.

Nah. You can opt for something called Good Behaviour Syndrome or something
(can't remember) where you have to keep your nose clean for a year or the
ban gets doubled. He's decided to take that option, hand his license back
and use his Brit one instead.
Don't think so. I've never been to Egypt.
