    I suspect the glare would detract from your night vision.

  4. How about putting the LEDs in a denser array so that they can be used to spell
    out words and images? Then we can start selling advertising.

    Or perhaps a suitably rude message on the jacket back for those who are
    tailgating you. ;-}

  6. The problem I see with this is that it's _so_ eye-catching and
    different from any other kind of lighting on the road that cagers (and
    even maybe other motorcyclists) might run right into you while they're
    busy saying to themselves over and over "What the hell IS that???"

    I can not even begin to imagine the jokes I would get from friends if I show
    up wearing that jackst. "Let me hang up your jacket right here so we can
    have a disco night!" "I see you bought Bootsy Collins memorabilia on Ebay!"
    etc etc

    Well, the relevance may be debatable. Particularly if you get on the
    cult's mailing list after attending a workshop hosted by a certain
    Scientologist in the Bay area...

  11. I've been attending Doc's motorcycle-related workshops for 8+ years
    now, and have yet to ever receive any Scientology mailings. Ads for
    his chiropractic clinic, yes, but there's nothing in them about
    Scientology.

  13. The implications may be true, but none of that is a proper retort to the
    statement that you don't end up on a $cientology mailing list after
    attending a Doc Wong workshop.

    FWIW, I attended a dirt-riding clinic he sponsored some years ago, and I
    learned some useful lessons. Not only that, but on the way there I
    twisted my back funny while filling up the tank, and Doc Wong fixed it
    for free with a quick adjustment. He's a nice guy: don't go using the
    principle of guilt by association to tar him with that brush. If you
    want to be pissed off at someone, you can, but be it for the right
    reasons.

    Nah, they don't care about Clearing the Planet and being Mankind's Only
    Hope enough.

    Don't wanna die,

    I've been blessed with a hereditary immunity to religion of all sorts. ;-}

    It seems that some people are working from the following syllogism:

    Scientology is evil
    Doc Wong is a Scientologist
    Therefore, everything that Doc Wong does is evil.

    While I consider religiosity to be a despicable human trait, it is
    endemic to the species, and if I didn't learn to overlook it, I'd have
    almost no human friends at all.

    That said, my experience with Doc is that he's willing to meet me
    halfway, in that he doesn't mix his spiritual beliefs with his efforts
    to promote motorcycle safety or his civic work in making the Santa Cruz
    Mountains a safer place to ride. That may not be good enough for those
    whose sense of moral correctness will not let them speak to registered
    Republicans, but it's good enough for me.

    YMMV

    I've seen the actuarial tables, and Clearing the Planet is way outside
    my time horizon. I'll trust in Global Warming to get the job done.;-}
