    Hi all,

I'm currently attending to driving courses in order to get a full driving
licence; I would like to buy a Suzuki Bandit 1200, and I think I am quite
confused for the insurance. As a French, I don't know many UK insurance
companies, so if someone could advise me on a couple of them, especially
to insure young drivers at a sensible price, that would be really nice!

    Thanks,

    Romain.

  2. Try www.insurance2000.co.uk who are "H and R insurance".
They did me a pretty good quote on bandit 1200, although I do have 3
    years No Claims Bonus.

May I ask what your premium is for the bindit - FC?

  4. Ooh blimey, it was an extra £70 for the remainder of the policy on top
of what I've paid for the VS.

I reckon it'd be somewhere around the 375 mark if I took a full policy
as: 25 years old, 3 yrs NCB, licence since '97, 1 accident declared, 3
points SP50 declared but licence clean.

Hopefully next renewal will be less, what with 26 and 4 yrs NCB, and
hopefully no declared points at all.

    a) Get a copy of Motorcycle News, there are loads of insurers listed
    in it.

    b) Young rider with a new licence will be lucky to get insured on a
Bandit 12 for a sensible price.

Sounds similar to my situation and I was quoted 425 FC by H&R for a
brand new B12 late last year.

  7. Garaged in Preston.

I'm not sure what will happen when I have a permanent address in the
south to register against. Probably go up :(
Ouch. Who's that with? have you tried H and R (if not with them)?

Actually there's a thought: what happens if your bike is nicked from
home after you moved house but you didn't tell your insurers you were in
a higher risk area (I don't know if you are or not, just thinking aloud
    really).

  9. I'm only <cough> visiting where I am now, my permanent address is
Preston. (this is mostly true - I haven't sold up yet). So it'd be no
different to my bike getting nicked from outside your house, whilst I
popped round for a cup of tea.

  11. Actually, I don't drink tea. Or coffee. But a pint of water would be
    great - thanks.

It's probably not that they don't recognise it, they probably just
think you'll sod it and leave it out front all the time.

Whydo what any 'normal' biker would do - keep it in the front room and
    call it a garage?
