Hey Putin's over here soon, he could make a plea for clemency. Oh hold
on, he is rather the anti-marxist isn't he.

  2. Yes, naturally. You must have some bloody good "knowledge" about the
local judiciary and police that's all I can say.

Well, whilst that's appropriate advise it's a bit late for me. All I
was pointing out was that engaging a brief and dressing smartly on the
day might not get the OP off the hook. Of course it does help if the
    briefs middle name isn't "fozzie".

Unless the brief can get the offender off scott free it may be better
(depending on circumstances) to simply take a short ban.
In my case I was caught in a car and it was a fair cop. I thought the
3 months a bit harsh but have no complaints. I took a calculated risk
and paid the price. A shedload of points would have been worse in the
    long run.

Sounds like this was a fair cop too.
Hmmm.., that doesn't strike me as much of a bargain. £1500 quid versus
3 months worth of minor inconvenience (i.e. being able to get pissed
whilst the mrs had to drive me everywhere). Though reckless driving
and racing would probably result in a lot more than a 3 month ban I
    would imagine.

I was looking at 1-3 years and possible jail! in fact I had skipped to
the USA but then we succeeded in beating all the charges on
technicalities. The worst bit of the scenario is that the 3rd vehicle
involved in the 2 mile game, a white Rover 827, turned out to be plod,
**** didn't let on until he had us on the most serious charges possible.

I got pulled for 124 in a 70 a few months back and nothing has arrived
(yet) - mind you, the bloke was on his way back to the station before
going home so I suppose he couldn't be bothered with the paperwork.

    I fully support his decision.

Hactually, I was told by the copper instructing me on my Bikesafe course,
26mph over the limit is ban territory, regardless of the speed limit. I
pointed out that surely 56 in a 30 was far worse than 96 on a motorway, and
    she just shrugged.

FWIW I got away with 5 points and a £250 fine, for 100 on a motorway, but
then that was a few years ago, it was in a car, and it wasn't in Wales. If
you can convince the magistrate that you're very, very sorry and this was a
one-off, you might be in with a shout of not getting a ban. Good luck
    anyway.

    I got a fixed penalty of 3 points and a 60 quid fine for 76 in a
temporary 50 on the M42 a few years back.

    A few years ago (1996) I got a FP, 3 points and £60 for 112mph on the
same machine as I've just been done for 98.

I suspect I'll have a different result now.

Is there a 'rule' now that once you've had two short bans it's an
    automatic long ban and retest?
