No. There are two ways that a retest can be required - one as an
optional additional penalty for certain offences and one which is
mandatory where a ban of five years or more is ordered.

I was talking about the marxist lefty green minority interest pressure
groups that infest British politics and sit patiently behind New Labour

Dangerous driving carries a mandatory ban of at least 12 months and
extended retest. Five years doesn't come into it.

That's one of the other offences I mentioned. One of the non-optional
ones I forgot about. It's all changed since the last time I had to
    know about these things.

But the five year ban thing is also still in force, I think, and means
that even if the court has not chosen to specify a retest for offences
other than dangerous driving but has imposed a five year ban, you will
need to retake the test anyway.

Scary thing is how old it is now.

I'll never forget Windy recounting her wearing her sp30.com T-shirt in
the supermarket and explaining to the little old lady in the checkout
queue that the little picture on her sleeve was a cock-on-a-rope

    Good, isn't it.

I liked the singalong page... which I've just scanned again and found
    this gem:

"Bike's got a demon heart, and rocket power
It's the bike that really turns him on
    (Unless it was Doc Gower)"

    Kind of reads differently now...
