that's my genuine opinion. I hate skanky old cafes with blokes with 6
earrings in one ear, studded denim jackets etc. etc.

I mean, I say, I'd rather eat at somewhere rubbish like Pret than a
    "biker's caff".

I think this thread shows that bikers want some kind of sublime dining
experience incorporating the finest food available in a varied menu with
table service befitting royalty, individual allergy requirements taken into
account, the ergonomics of a penthouse suite and apparently "atmosphere"
thrown in, somehow. I'm guessing that's something like TGI Fridays-like
decor. Maybe with pictures of the Fonz in the shower and bathroom annex.

And if they can't have that I guess they'll rock up to the Thief like they
    normally do.

  3. Bollocks.
    Let Darwin take its course.

Fried egg and peanut butter sandwich on white, washed down with a
    stawberry milkshake.

That should cover most of 'em.

Lol I think that sums it up perfectly. I might print that out & stick
it on the wall as a Mission Statement ;-)
My last Thief experience was utterly dire - the worst brekkie I've ever
    had.

I can see the sign over the door now - "Cafe Munch - basically, it's
    not shit".

    Hmm, good question.
Since changing jobs I now eat at a cafe almost every day, and rather spiffy
it is too. The novelty value is that despite being owned and run by a very
charming Polish girl, with an all Polish staff, it is not a Polish cafe.
The food is extremely good quality and very reasonable. In addition to the
usual fried fare she also does a range of homemade soups, which are very
filling and a healthy option (my current choice is the leek and potato
    variety).

The fact that after only 3 days of going there she knew who I was and that I
don't take sugar in my tea was also good, It's nice to be made to feel
    welcome, and a "regular".

My only criticism is that the chips are oven chips, rather than deep fried.

Therefore, my idea of a good cafe is:
    Value / quality food.
Healthy alternatives that aren't all salad based.
    A charming Pole.

If you are ever in the Brentford / Chiswick area give me a shout, I'll buy
    you lunch.
Biker friendly would prolly mean opening on a Sunday, so that the Power
Rangers and BAB's have somewhere to ride out to.

It's got a decent size carpark out back - probably enough for 10-12
cars. OK that's not Thief standard, but it's pretty good for a small
town centre pad. Coat hooks & a helmet shelf along one wall sounds like
    a plan.

I've never had a bad Little Thief brekkies. I don't do the ones in m-way
services mind. Always loads of it, quick and cheap. The USA equivalent
    was even better.

It's a nice idea, but we're talking a small, owner-run town centre cafe
here - waiters & valet parking definitely won't be on the menu!

Steer clear of the one at Blunsden near Swindon if you want to keep
that record - it really was atrocious.

Ah - that might be a problem. I suppose she could get a cat's
scratching pole & hang a sign on it saying "that's a jolly nice hat
    your wearing".
I haven't ever been before, but thanks, I'll try to remember.
I'm trying to convince her to do that, even if it will mean hiring
someone to work Sundays. It would tie in quite nicely with people
planning a run around a lunch stop at Averbury, which lots do.

    Good Man, your on.
Although it could be a PITA, it might be a good way of building up a regular
clientele. Also, isn't there a referrer website for biker cafes (ISTR
    seeing one once).

I think the phrase was "..like a ****." I was however, mainly
referring to the style in which you led the group rideout, more than
    your personal riding style.
Speaking of which, are there any more non-gay-pink-banner-waving rides
    planned?

And a nice radiator to stick your helmet and jacket on in cold winter
    days.

Oh, and let the local motorcycle training places know that the cafe
exists, as they'll stop off two or more times a day with a new intake
of leaners. Give the instructors free tea & coffee and they'll come
along if it's not too far off their route.

You could also make the cafe a smoking area too.

Cammo emerged from their own little world to say
Hello you. They're all coming out of hibernation now.

I'm not planning anything for a while as I have other things doing.

Once half term sprog duties and my final 2 exams are over by June 8th
I'm off to Croatia on the bike until June 22nd. I may need a rest after
    a 3000 mile round trip.
