This one is a classic to rank alongside Bruce Porters original gem.

The nominee was stood looking in through the twin doors of our shed
looking at the two bikes inside and asked "which one's Adies Bandit?"
No problem you might think except the other bike is a CG125. Even
viewed from behind anyone who has already owned a Bandit should be
able to tell the difference. It wasn't dark and the shed has a pretty
good level of natural light even when the doors are closed.

Steve Auvache (for it was he) might claim he was drunk but he wasn't
and he might claim the bikes were covered but they weren't. Over to
Bear for a decision but I'm pretty sure he's going to agree with me on
    this one.

There were witnesses. I couldn't make up something as stupid as that.

So what you're saying is that the next YTC# will almost certainly be
    posthumous?

Quite right too. It was a simple enough mistake, anybody could have
done it. Besides I was tired, I have been partying like I haven't
partied in years in the last couple of weeks and I had been wrestling
with half a tonne of irony Ali all day. A simple slip that in all
likelihood will become a minor meme and that is the best it deserves.

Let us say no more on the matter.

I thought you are not nominated for YTC, it's not an award. It's a statement
    of fact.

Well I suppose you could put it that way. The only problem being that
the person handing out the numbers can't always be present at the time
    of the act of stupidity.

As I understand the modern interpretation of the YTC this is the case in
    fact.

I do recall the YTC list being declared as closed when Bear retired to
dry out a while back and various people, some of who deserve credit not
only for their TCishness but for standing up on two legs as well, being
denied the YTC on that basis.

It could be argued, I suppose, that this Many who rightfully deserve
recognition for their efforts are being unfairly denied and some means
needs to be developed to give them the acclaim they crave.

In order to resolve the issue I suppose it would need someone to
propose, as molly has done, that simple nomination and public piss
    taking be sufficient.

As Bear himself said, "Blaney has raised the bar." Maybe he has raised
it too high. High enough that for the rest of us, Limbo is the only
    thing left.

I think I was a bit harsh when I made my original post by not taking
    your age into account.
It's his choice. He's said previously that persistent offenders might
still get a number so all you need to do is just demonstrate that
Saturday wasn't a one-off and you might be in luck.

Not just my age. I have a whole raft off mitigating circumstances I
    haven't used yet.

How about: I left me trousers round Big Al's yesterday complete with me
baccy, me skins and me plastic in the pockets? Just as well I ain't
going anywhere for the next couple of days really.

I didn't even get one for recharging my Sv's battery overnight to try and
get it to start before remembering you have to hold the clutch in on Suzukis
    when hitting the starter.
