A nice man delivered a parcel for me this morning, just as I was about
to leave for work. On the box was the label "Harris". So, after a
brief approximation of Christmas morning, I had in my hand two shiny
new steering stems (together with my original, sent as a pattern),
each with a different amount of offset. So, I can now adjust the
trail on the race bike (the 3 stems/offsets being +/-2mm, +/-1mm and
0mm, giving 5 options), which is a useful thing to be able to do on
the Isle of Man. (Also, the offsets that were on the bike were set to
add 2mm to the trail, which would explain why I found it a bit slow
    steering - we'll try 0 at Snetterton.)

Apparently, these were made by Lester Harris himself. They really are
things of beauty. I can almost convince myself they were worth 200
    quid...

Reading the subject line and then the posters name got me quite
confused. Almost thinking you were going to make a comment about
some particularly nice food you had.

I bought a whole rolling chassis off him in 1986
You're going to have to try harder than that.

So, there's no excuses now ;-).
As you know, you get what you pay for and 200ukp doesn't sound that
    bad.

They may be beautiful, as are most Harris products
    but will they fit?

I sent them the steering stem from the yokes on the bike (which Harris
made about 5~6 years ago), and they took the dimensions from that, so
I bloody hope so. Checking them by eye this morning, they look
    identical.

It took me 8 man hours to fit the Harris undertray and I'm not totally happy
with the result. It (undeclared) requires the removal of the bungee hooks
from the Gixxer subframe. I cut the tray instead.
The AP Racing callipers bolted straight in though )

It'd be interesting to see a picture of what you've done to that poor
    defenseless bike.

    How about:

    1) I snogged Alex Kingston
    2) The sacked bird from Buck's Fizz was my babysitter
    3) I shared a urinal with Dick Cheney
    4) I was on the BBC News last week.

So I am probbly the most famous person currently reading UKRM

I think I might just beat that. I had 2 of the Sugababes running round
my HG shop in bra and knickers one day.

Not a penny. The two darker girls, Mutiyah and the West Indian one who's
name I forget, came in looking for leathers for a video shoot. One of my
staff, Dave, went to school with Mutiyah's brother, and the brother said
to go and see Dave, so they did. They kept running back to the rails to
try different stuff all the time. I had them doing that for about an
hour. The other girl, Heidi, was a miserable cow and sat outside in the
car and told them to buy her whatever they thought would do. I leant
them all the gear they needed, and they brought it all back 2 days
    later.

It was more of a 'mwah, mwah', but it's mainly accurate. [1]

But on a geo-political scale, Dick Cheney's dick has to score more, surely?
(Disgruntled, 'cos AK hasn't featured in my life for 15 years....)
