Finally decided yesterday to attempt to salvage what I could of the old
    zorst.

Step 1. Buy an angle grinder (woo hoo, sparks 'n stuff)
Step 2. Cut off the fucked bits of the old collector box, leaving 2 clean
stubs. All I need now is a bit of pipe with an ID of 38.5mm to join them
    together.
Step 3. Grind all surface corrosion off non chromey bits and paint with
    black HT enamel. Luvverly.

Unfortunately the silencers, which I thought were OK are actually (well,
after yesterday's efforts), scrap. One of them had rusted very heavily
where the pipe joins the headers (i.e, it was all brown and crumbly), and
one of the 3 screws holding the end cap on wouldn't undo, and appears to be
made of the hardest metal known to man.

The other one now has a large socket hammered up it's chuff which I was
using to try to get the baffles out, so it would appear to be fucked too.

Ho hum, my cup is half full I guess.

For the hell of it I enquired yesterday at my local Kawasaki dealers about
price and availability of a complete new system. Should find out next week.

Yeah, cheers for that, have been watching it.

Price would be great if the downpipes weren't dinged, but then again my
    downpipes are (now) serviceable.

Dunno, I may watch it some more, but I have a horrible feeling the ends of
the silencers will have corrosion as they are used rather than NOS.
