Zeus helmets

  1. Does anyone here use a Zeus helmet? I was wandering around a couple
bike shops and spied a few that looked alright. In particular, there
was one with an extra tinted shield. Unlike the other helmets I've
seen with two shields, this one had the tinted shield inside a
centimetre or so from the main shield and was activated/moved by a
switch on the outside of the helmet.

The guy I was chatting to couldn't answer too many questions. I wanted
to know how hard it was to replace the tinted lense and how noisier it
was with the switch hanging off the side. It looks ok and think I will
grab one for myself (unless someone has bought one and didn't like
    it).

    The particular model is: ZS-3600A

  2. I bought one a couple of weeks ago, to replace the ageing Nolan N101.

Picked it up for $290, with various discounts.

Both the visor, and the inner sun shield come out the same way - grab
firmly and pull out and upwards. Replacement is the opposite. When I was
first told this, it sounded barbaric, but seems to work quite well in
    practice.

Noise is no worse than the N101, and perhaps a bit quieter (very
subjective test - and possible a placebo effect of knowing I had a new
    helmet).

The inner sunshield is quite a nice touch. I like that it can be used
with the outer visor up or down, and with the chin guard up or down.
Unlike the N102, the sunshield does not rub or rattle against the helmet
visor. I believe the N102 is noiser than the N101, so Zeus should be a
    lot quieter than N102.

Was a bit harder to get autocomm gear to fit inside the helmet
comfortably - I'm still playing around with that part.

  3. I've had Zeus helmets in the past, and had no problems with them at
all. I was going to buy another one instead of the N102 I have now,
but as I was buying a new bike at the time the dealer gave me a great
deal on the Nolan so I took it. Had I known about the Zeus model you
mention, I would have bought that one instead though!

The N102 is good, but the sun visor being on the outside isn't as
    useful as this one sounds.

As for noise, I've discovered that the vast bulk of all noise
generated by the N102 is from the gap around the neck. If there was
some way of sealing that a bit more efficiently then it would be very
    quiet indeed.

  4. My mate has their dual sport helmet and loves it. About quarter of the
price of a Shoei or Arai too.
