    In other news, I remember reading an article once on race-prepping a Guzzi
    Daytona 1000... one of the weight-saving measures was the removal of the
    bike's_alternators_... wtf? Alternator_s?_Plural?

    Probably the starter. Removing the alternator and the starter motor
    from a Guzzi would save about 20 kgs. A battery just to run the
    ignition for an hour would save another 10. A rigorous diet by the
    rider, 35.

  3. Z13's also came with a sub alternator. Amazing what electrical goodies you
    can get for them.
