Done a rough estimate of parts alone and the damage adds up to a tad under
1500 quid (standard silencers over 650 quid! .. and yes I like the standard
    one)

Called the tyre place this morning and spoke to the boss, he was really nice
and was very surprised when I told him of the 60 psi. Anyway he asked me to
pop over and have a word. I left the bike in the garage and drove over.

Again really pleasant, they recognised I was a regular long term customer
and where very apologetic and said they would decide this afternoon whether
to put it through their insurance or not.

Had a phone call afterwards to say it was going through their insurers and a
a form was being sent to them and could I forward an estimate etc.

Hopefully it all seems to be going well.

I'm not bothered claiming for bruising etc, only want the bike sorted.

I'd call that a result. I think you did the right thing talking to
the place first - if you'd escalated it immediately with engineers
reports and trading standards etc I'm sure it would have been more
    difficult.

It was a hard call as part of me wanted to go with some solid independent
info but I figured being a regular customer I'd give them the benefit as
they've been good in the past.

It never fails to amaze me how much damage is done by a less than walking
speed or off the stand tumble :)

Oh sure - my ZX10R was gently knocked off its stand by a bloke
reversing his car a couple of months ago - the bill was over 1200
    quid.

My SV was slid gently under the rear bumper of a Honda Accord at 15mph
max - it suffered ?2300 worth of damage at Suzuki prices.

I lobbed the Zed up a curb, over the pavement and down into a ditch which
resulted in the need for a new mirror, a new indicator and a poxy plastic
cover for the left hand side of the rad. Oh yeah, and a likkle dint on
t'tank where the handlebars caught it.

I did more damage to my VN by letting it roll off the side stand on the
    drive.

Nah it's totally ride able (or will when I reduce the tyre pressure from
60psi and readjust the rear wheel).

Good, but they need to sort their tyre pressure gauges out PDQ.

It appears to be not the accuracy but the usage :)
