No, its a stupid idea. Where is your R6? If its being repaired, why will it
take six months? Can't you hire a bike c/o your insurance?

    I've been offered a blue '03 ZX636R with 12k miles on it for £3800. It's in
very good nick, and would serve well as a stop-gap until my R6 is well
    again. Like this, but blue:

I'm terrible for things like this as the sane part of my brain tends to go
on holiday when I get over-interested in the possibilities. I had a test
ride at lunch and it's bloody marvellous, but I want to be able to sell the
thing when my R6 is back working again. Do you think I will be able to get
my money back in 6 months time[1]?

[1] Assuming, of course, that I don't slide it :)

I'd say that's slightly below book for a private sale as I've seen
them going for around £4200-£4400 but with only 2000 miles on the
clock. These are winter prices so it maybe worth a bit more in 6
    months time though.

If it's so good why would you want to go back to the R6?

Thanks, that's the response I needed.
At home in my garage, with bent bits.
Because I'm slow, and busy, and slow, and lazy.
They've now paid me for the damage, but I've spend a fair amount of time on
the R6 so I don't want to lose out on the time I've spent. I've got to get
it road-worthy again to make back the £900 I've spent on it since the
    accident.

    In
That's what I was hoping, in which case it would get me back on the road
immediately and it wouldn't cost me anything.....maybe....
    I don't, but I don't feel I'll get a good price for it now that it's got a
Category D write-off stain. The salvage cost £1300, and it's cost me £900
to bring back to good condition. I still have to replace the forks, which I
recieved in the post last week. I don't want to sell it for any less than
£2500, do you think this is attainable? If not then I may as well keep the
    R6 as a track bike :)

[Sorry if this comes through twice, I'm having news server woe]

If you can get a nice ZX636 for 3800 then what price your written off R6? I
think there's a new R6 in the wings which would depress your price further.
I would bodge the R6 back together as cheaply as possible and then ride it
    until it disintergrates.

  9. Egads they're gorgeous.

Tell you what: Buy it, get it repsrayed in green or black, and I'll swop
mine for it when you want to get rid.

    Sound fair?

What happened to the '03 R6 you bought in December?

It didn't get delivered, it's a long story but can be summarised in one
    word - Cnut.
