The only issue I had was with mine after about 20k miles when I could
easily get a false neutral between 3rd & 4th when giving it beans. It
seemed perfectly OK in all other gears.

ISTR reading that problems with 4th were a fairly common thing, BICBW.
Shortarses like me don't need one - even when using a tankbag.
Although I never tried a DB on the 9R, so it could have been an
    improvement over standard anyway, IYSWIM.

Ah, that was Mike Edwards, then. I vaguely remember it now. It was a
stock motor, but they had put an Ohlins shock and Ohlins forks (!) in
    it, mind.

What year was yours? The power jumped quite considerably over the years.

  6. I should hope so, if that one was actually as it should be.

That's a good 20hp down on Lozzo's then according to the factory
figures, & possibly quite a bit more than that as Triumph's claimed
outputs are generally a work of fantasy.

  8. Oh well.

I didn't keep it for long - took an instant dislike to it and that was
    that.

Preferred the CBR600 that was bought out of some of the proceeds, so
it must have been pretty bad, eh? ;-)

Ah, the old "Commercial food mixer whipping up a pound of assorted
    nuts and bolts" noise. Horrific.

I've got a nice annodised titanium one by Quill that's no longer being
used. It was a direct slip on replacement for my C1/C2.

Interesting, I've never had a false neutral on mine. Maybe I'm too ham-
    footed.

Mike Edwards was one of the riders and they were on a 9R belonging to
Alf's Kawasaki who'd been running something (I'm not sure if it was an
R1) all summer. I'm pretty sure the same team have done a couple of
World Endurance rounds so they're not exactly novices when it comes to
    endurance racing.

The box on my Sprint RS is, erm, rather eccentric at times. I think
it's because of the somewhat complicated actuator arm. I am currently
awaiting a later Daytona model gearshift to come up on ebay, which
apparently bolts straight on to the shaft, albeit reversed, thus taking
out the need for the arm and it's associated joints.

Mine had the 'direct to the shaft' reversed gear lever, it was fine.
Later ones had the silly linkage fitted. **** only knows why they
    changed something that worked well.
