Looking at the state of the bike I have to agree, I thought i'd have
pinged through with a lot less damage. It was one of those split
second decisions, at the time the fence looked the better option

As one of my work colleagues (who is also a biker) said, "It's never
good when a barbed wire fence looks like the BETTER option"
