ZZR fixed

  1. Thanks for the advice from everyone here regarding checking coils/
    plugs/leads etc.

Removal of the tank showed that the connection to the lefthand coil
    was being being secured by
the actual rubber around the spade connector as opposed to the spade
    itself - problem solved!

Kind of bizarre in that it has been like that for the 6 months I have
owned the bike but obviously the vibration has made the rubber
surround stretch and tear until it was giving an intermittant
    connection.

An unexpected bonus is that it was a bit wooly from 4-5k which I
assumed was down to fuelling and the remus can, however that has gone
too and it is a lot smoother in traffic.

    Hooray!

It's *amazing* how a duff coil can feel like a fuelling problem, as I
think I said at the time.

Yup, had it myself on a trackday and only spotted the
loose connector on the coils when I had lifted the
tank up to check for fuel problems!

Maybe anazing but surely "*amazing*" is a bit too
    strong?

Open throttle gradually, revs rise - engine starts missing.

    Hmmm -
    - partially blocked main jet - water, whatever?
    - restricted fuel supply?
    - inadaquate spark voltage as spark-time combustion
    chamber pressure rises?
    - fouled plugs conducting away the spark as spark-time ..?
    - ...

No differnce in rider percieved symptoms?
